Yesterday, we studied the power in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of his resurrection, we now have access to his power in the mighty name of Jesus. While there is no power in the combination of letters used to spell Jesus, there is power in the person of Jesus Christ, to whom we have access through the Holy Spirit.
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:6–11)
Pray this prayer and ask God to fill you with his hope today.
I sometimes forget how much beauty, wonder, and power is in the name of Jesus. Lord, forgive me for when I reduce your Son’s name to a simple exclamation. When I think of a situation in my life that I’m tempted to feel is hopeless, lifeless, or bound for failure, I will choose to speak the Holy name of Jesus over that situation.
